Store Manager

This is a full-time, 40-hours-per-week position responsible for supervising the Grocery Manager and Meat Market Manager. Ideally, the store manager would work Monday through Friday from 7:00 to 4:00 with a one-hour break. However, there is flexibility if weekend or evening hours are preferred. This position will earn $21.00 hourly, paid on a bi-weekly basis with a discretionary quarterly bonus. No additional benefits are offered.

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in business, management, or retail operations preferred.

    Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in a managerial or supervisory role, preferably within a grocery store, supermarket, or retail environment.

    Leadership: Demonstrated ability to inspire and manage a diverse team of 10 or more employees while fostering a culture of respect and accountability and emphasizing teamwork and community service.

    Operational Knowledge: Strong understanding of store operations, including inventory control, merchandising, and vendor relations, and familiar with coordinating purchasing and inventory to balance customer demand with product freshness.

    Customer Service Orientation: Commitment to providing exceptional service, upholding the store’s standard of genuine hospitality, and resolving customer issues with empathy and fairness.

    Financial Awareness: Ability to interpret sales data, manage budgets responsibly, and contribute to profitability through expense control and efficient scheduling.

    Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate effectively with staff, customers, vendors, and owners.

    Operations Management

    • Oversee the daily functions of all departments to ensure smooth, efficient, and customer-focused operations.

    • Supervise and support department managers, cashiers, and stockers, ensuring consistent service standards.

    • Maintain store cleanliness, product rotation, and merchandising that reflect the store’s emphasis on freshness and quality.

    • Monitor inventory levels and work with local and regional suppliers to support local sourcing and minimize waste.

    • Ensure compliance with health, sanitation, and safety regulations.

    Customer & Community Relations

    • Lead by example in providing friendly, attentive service and genuine hospitality.

    • Handle customer inquiries and concerns promptly and with care, maintaining the store’s reputation for fairness and trust.

    • Represent the store positively within the community, supporting partnerships with local farmers, producers, and organizations.

    Financial & Administrative Responsibilities

    • Monitor sales, expenses, and labor costs to maintain operational efficiency and profitability.

    • Approve employee schedules and time records to ensure adequate coverage during peak hours.

    • Review daily sales reports, track key performance metrics, and communicate results to the owners.

    • Implement cost-control measures and identify opportunities for local growth and community engagement.

    Employee Development

    • Lead hiring efforts that align with the store’s mission.

    • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.

    • Recognize and reward employee contributions that demonstrate honesty, teamwork, and hospitality.
